Hawaii Forest and Trail Rain Forest

Big Island Hawaii Forest and Trail Rainforest

Join Hawaii Forest and Trail Rainforest and Dryforest Birdwatching for the most fascinating and study of two rare habitats: Hawaii’s rainforest and dryforest. What a contrast! The Hawaiian tropical rainforest consists of a moist broadleaf eco-region in the montane and windward lowland regions of the island. For millions of years, the Hawaiian Islands were not inhabited resulting in the evolution of a spectacular diversity of endemic species that includes moss, birds, fungi, snails, and other forest wildlife. In the fertile, wet forests in the upper part of the mountain you will find trees draped with moss, vines, and orchids. Buzz Hawaii will schedule Big Island Eco Tours so you and your family can learn about this most important ecosystem at discounted prices. Include Hawaii Dry Forest Adventure, Big Island Attractions, Big Island Tours, and Hawaii Tours with Buzz Hawaii and save.

The rarest ecosystem type in the world is Hawaii’s Dry Tropical Forests. The Dryforest was once believed to cover the entire lowland zone, but now is replaced by cattle ranches, pineapple plantations, cane fields, and tract homes. Needless to say dryforests are on the decline with less than 10% of the original dry forests remaining. Come with Hawaii Forest and Trail Rainforest to explore these two opposite environments all in one Big Island Eco Tour! Discover Hawaii Forest and Trail Rainforests and Hawaii Dryforest Adventure with Buzz Hawaii.com.

Explore Puu Laau as we trek the sub-alpine dryland forest located on the west side Mauna Kea, home of the Bryani sub-species of Elepaio and the endangered Palila. Discover the cloudforest habitat on the Puu Oo Trail on the northeastern slope of Mauna Loa as we search for the endangered I’iwi, Apapane, Akiapolaau, Omao, and other endemics. This Big Island Eco Tour will transport you to our two primary locations. We will travel north and enjoy the drive along the coast as we get closer to Old Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road. We will then begin watching for birds from the vehicle. This is a great time to get your camera ready to capture a photo of the open-country birds such as the Pueo, known as the short-eared owl, and game birds. If the weather permits we will stop for breakfast on Saddle Road., usually at the Mauna Kea State Park at Pohakuloa. Buzz Hawaii will pass big savings to you when reserving a Hawaii Forest and Trail Rainforest and Dryforest Birdwatching Tour, Big Island Tours, or any Hawaii Tours.
