Located in the mountains above Kona, the Big Island Country Club golf course features 18 championship holes designed by world-famous architects Pete and Perry Dye. This beautifully maintained course sits at an elevation higher than most other courses in the state of Hawaii, some 2500 feet above sea level, providing a challenging and memorable experience for golfers of every caliber!
The course, designed to blend harmoniously into its unique mountain environment, offers five sets of tee grounds, Bentgrass greens, and Bermuda fairways. Built in 1997, this relatively new course boasts features that include a half-mile-long stream, five lakes, and more than 70 sand bunkers. (Water comes into play on nine of the 18 holes.) The slightly rolling fairways play host to some 2000 different specimens of vegetation. The gently undulating medium-sized greens are moderate in speed. Signature holes include the four par-3 holes (the 17th hole, surrounded by a large lake, really stands out here), the par-5 16th, and the 9th and 18th holes.
