One of The Golfer magazine’s “Top 100 Golf Resorts” and included on Golf Digest’s list of “Top 10 Courses In Hawaii”, this immaculate, 18-hole, par-72 course is one of two championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. for Makena Resort in South Maui. Built on 1,800 acres of oceanfront property along the shores of Wailea, the Makena South Course offers incredible mountain and ocean views as well as superb playing conditions all year long.

Along with its equally gorgeous counterpart to the north, Makena Resort’s South Course plays host to the annual Hawaii State Open and provides a unique challenge to golfers of all skill levels. With its gently rolling fairways, undulating, well-maintained greens, and daily tournament playing conditions, it’s no wonder the South Course at Makena Resort remains a favorite among Maui golfers, locals and visitors alike! There are two holes here that are especially noteworthy: the 502-yard, Par-5 10th hole is widely considered one of the top driving holes in the entire state and affords an amazing view of the Puu Olai cinder cone to the west and Ulupalakua Ranch to the east. One of two oceanfront holes, the par-4 16th is every bit as challenging as it is visually stunning. In the winter, you might even catch a glimpse of humpback whales on their annual migration to the warm waters of the South Pacific!
