Sunshine Helicopters - Ultimate Kauai Adventure
Explore paradise with Sunshine Helicopters Ultimate Kauai Adventure and view the unreachable beauty of the “Garden Isle!” The Sunshine Helicopter flight will include such sites as the colorful Waimea Canyon, the breathtaking Na Pali coast, cascading waterfalls, and locations that were used by Hollywood for filming movies! The experienced and knowledgeable pilot will narrate the history and legends of the island of Kauai.
Mount Waialeale, also known as, “Rippling Water,” is located at the southeastern edge of an extinct caldera. Shrouded with clouds and an average of over 450 inches of rain annually, Mount Waialeale is considered to be one of the wettest spots on the earth. Most of the mountain rains drain into a nearby plateau named Alakai Swamp and is the home to many uncommon species of plants and birds.
Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in Hawaii and is known as the “Grand Canyon of the South Pacific.” The Waimea Canyon is ten miles long, one mile wide, and more than 3,500 ft. deep. Thousands of years ago the floods and rivers that flowed from Mount Waialeale carved this spectacular canyon making it one of the most amazing sites to see from the air.
Wailua Falls is a magnificent eighty foot high waterfall that has three separate cascading segments. After a heavy rain the waterfalls flow heavily and become a single massive waterfall. Ancient history records that men used to dive over the falls to prove their worthiness. Wailua Falls became famous when it was featured in the opening scene of, “Fantasy Island,” the popular TV show.
Na Pali Coast is a legendary area with dramatic jagged cliffs carved out over thousands of years. The coastline is hypnotic no matter how many times you may visit. Na Pali Coast is the home of Bali Hai, seen in the legendary 20th Century Fox movie, South Pacific.
