Hawaii Shark Encounters

Prepare yourself for a thrilling, unforgettable experience as the professionals of Hawaii Shark Encounters take you below the water’s surface for your very own up close and personal North Shore shark adventure!

The entire experience, start to finish, lasts a little under 2 hours. The Hawaii Shark Encounters crew departs several times each day from Haleiwa Harbor. The boat ride takes about 15 minutes. There, 3 miles out, the adventure truly begins!

Drawn by the sound of the boat’s engine, sharks begin to arrive only a few minutes after arriving on site. After the first shark is sighted, guests are allowed to step down directly from the boat into the cage via a ladder. The whole time the shark cage stays level and is tied securely to the boat. And, yes, the cage is open at the top, but don’t worry, the sharks can’t get in!

The largest shark cage in Hawaii, there’s plenty of room to maneuver with handrails all along the ¼ inch thick plexiglass. In fact, you don’t even need to know how to swim! The walls of the cage are transparent and offer amazing views of the sharks as well as the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean!

You’ll come face-to-face with several different types of sharks – Galapagos, Sandbar, and, very rarely, Tiger Sharks – sometimes as many as 30 at a time (see the picture above for proof)!

No previous diving or snorkeling experience is necessary (snorkel equipment’s provided), and anyone over the age of 5 is welcome to take the plunge! It’s an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience, and a real thrill getting up close and personal with these intimidating, often misunderstood creatures!

After your Hawaii Shark Encounter, be sure to wander around historic Haleiwa town and stop by a few of the gorgeous public beaches all along the North Shore of Oahu.

The crew of Hawaii Shark Encounters knows a lot about sharks and how to observe them safely. They’ve been featured on National Geographic, Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel, and with their perfect safety record, you know you’re in good hands. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!

(Just imagine the look on their faces when you tell your friends back home about this one!)around and get the best view
