    BIG ISLAND

By far the largest island in the Hawaiian Island chain is Hawaii, otherwise known as the Big Island.  It is home to the state's only active volcano and this alone attracts so many curious visitors and locals.  If you plan to visit the Big Island, you must scurry your way over to Kilauea because you'll have the chance to see lava up close and personal.  Several companies offer a tour to Kilauea, but we recommend Polynesian Adventures Tour's Volcano Adventure because of their trained profesional guides and comfortable transportation.

As an alternative to sightseeing, hiking is favorite pastime of many.  With a healthy exercise, an informative hiking guide, and a delicious lunch, there is nothing that could make you feel better about your day.  Since the island is so huge, Hawaiian Walkways, offers a variety of different hiking tours that cover from Waipio Valley to Kilauea.  If you desire to discover hidden waterfalls, we recommend the 3.5 mile Waipio Waterfall Adventure Hike, but if you have an interest in exotic plantlife, then the Kona Cloud Forest Botanical Walk is right for you.

With a highway going around the entire island, it's very easy to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii's beaches.  It could take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to drive around the entire island, but if you're ready for a fun-filled stop during the drive, be sure to take part in one of the many available water activities.  In Kona, Atlantis Submarines provides a quick 35 minute dive underwater to check out and enjoy a 25-acre natural coral reef!  If that's not enough excitement for you, you can also drive further north to go on a snorkel cruise or a dolphin sail.  Now if you're exhausted from the drive that took the entire day and you're ready to relax and watch the sunset, you could also enjoy a dinner cruise on the Kona or Kohala coast.

Some of the other Big Island adventures include horseback riding above Waipio Valley, a Paniolo Cycle biking adventure, and the Royal Kona Luau.
